Entry Requirements
FOR GENERAL FOUNDATION PROGRAMME (GFP)
Applicants are required to meet Oman Dental College’s minimum admission criteria for the GFP:
- Evidence of a minimum of 12 years of primary and secondary schooling
- Grade of ‘B’ in 1) English Language,2) Chemistry and 3) Biology in Omani General Education Diploma
- Grade ‘C’ in Pure or Applied Mathematics in Omani General Education Diploma
- Equivalent international school leaving qualifications such as the IB, A-levels or CBSE etc
Omani applicants applying through the Higher Education Admissions Centre should ensure they use the appropriate codes for the BDS programme at ODC. The Higher Education Admissions Centre can be accessed by the following link: www.heac.gov.om
Direct Entry to Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Program
Applicants are required to meet Oman Dental College’s minimum admission criteria for BDS:
- Applicants with international secondary school leaving qualifications who have studied in English (see Admissions and Entry requirements)
- Applicants who have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0
- Applicants transferring from other institutions may be considered eligible for transfer to ODC, subject to challenging and passing the relevant ODC professional examinations.
Entry in to Masters in Dental Science (MSc)
Applicants are required to meet Oman Dental College’s minimum admission criteria for the MSc in Dentistry, including:
- A BDS degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution.
- A minimum Academic IELTS score of 6 (or equivalent).
- Basic competency in computer software relevant to academic research particularly word processing (e.g. Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (e.g. Excel), and reference-management programs (e.g EndNote, Mendeley).
- Students who lack prior proficiency in these areas may be required to complete mandatory training courses offered/arranged by the College to ensure they can effectively manage academic writing, data analysis, and reference citation.
- Admission to the programme is also contingent upon the availability of suitable supervisors, guaranteeing that each student receives the necessary guidance and support their research endeavour.
